Hello. I just received my order of Essenza per Uomo this evening. It’s incredible, and I have a small history with this fragrance.

I wanted to share with you what I posted to my friends on Facebook this evening. I love that in a world where so much changes, some things are still counted upon. I think I’m unusual moved by fragrance.

Im not a writer (which I think will be obvious) nor any kind of blogger or vlogger. I just have friends with whom I’m comfortable to be myself around.

There is a saying, “You can never go back.”

    In many ways, it’s true.

But there are some things which have a lot of power to trigger memories so strongly that you can, in fact, feel in a long ago moment…to go back.

Someone once told me that the sense of smell, in particular, is closely linked to memory.

I think it was 1987, when I was just 20, there was an advert in GQ (or Details) magazine for this fragrance. It had the little fragrance strip in it so you could smell it, or even press against your wrist to learn how it works with your body’s chemistry. Battaglia Beverly Hills: Essenza per Uomo. The smell transported me from “boring” Sacramento to Southern California, which I believed then to be the center of the universe. Citrus, bergamot (I think), some floral notes, a touch of

    masculine spice. Carefree refinement.

It even had a postcard that you could fill out and post to get a free sample of the fragrance, which I did, naturally. I had great taste but no money, so free…
